Troubleshooting / Requirements
What are the minimum technical requirements?
To view video you will need the following software installed on your computer:
- Internet Explorer 6.0 or above, Firefox 1.5 or above, or Safari 2.0 or above, Opera 9.0 or above
- JavaScript and Cookies must also be enabled.
- Adobe Flash Player 9.0 or above - You can upgrade to the Flash Player 9.0.124.0 here - http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
- Microsoft Windows XP SP2, Microsoft Windows Vista, Macintosh OS X, or Linux
Networking / Firewall configuration
- Port 1935 TCP/UDP must be opened to your machine.
- Downstream speeds for live events vary between 300kbps and 1mbps.
- With "Stateful Inspection"w firewalls, traffic will be inspected, and non-HTTP traffic may get rejected. This could prevent communication to the Live Stream Server even when the proper port is open. Please consult the documentation for the particular firewall, to determine how to properly configure it to allow RTMP traffic.
- Check if you are using a proxy server to connect to the Internet. Most proxy servers only negotiate HTTP traffic. For this reason, attempts to connect to the Live Streaming Server using RTMP through a proxy server may fail.
What should I do if my video stops or stutters?
- Switch to a network / internet connection with greater downstream bandwidth.
- You can test your downstream bandwidth at many websites. Search for "bandwidth test" on the web to find many of the most popular bandwidth test websites.
- Connect to your network with an ethernet cable as opposed to a wireless connection.
- Visit us on a newer or more powerful computer.
What if my video player does not get past the "Loading Video" screen or says "Unable to connect to Streaming Server?"
- Port 1935 TCP/UDP must be opened to your machine.
- Check that your proxy is not blocking the connection.
Why am I not able to hear the audio from videos?
If you cannot hear audio from videos, please try the following steps:
- Verify that the volume bar in the video player are correctly set.
- Verify that your computer speaker volumes and settings are correctly set.
- Verify that other media speakers such as Windows Media Player or Quicktime can output audio.
- Restart the browser and try watching videos again.
If that does not work, restart the computer and try watching the videos.
Alternatively, the following steps have also helped our users when the steps above didn't fix the audio issue.
